Make Thanksgiving Special
Get ready for the aromas, the family activities, making memories at this special holiday. Yes, it has special significance so I wanted to check on some who had found clarity, like…
“Got no check books, got no banks. Still I’d like to express my thanks — I got the sun in the morning and the moon at night.’ ~Irving Berlin
“What we’re really talking about is a wonderful day set aside on the fourth Thursday of November when no one diets. I mean, why else would they call it Thanksgiving?” ~Erma Bombeck
“Let us remember that, as much has been given us, much will be expected from us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds. ~Theodore Roosevelt
“A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the parent of all the other virtues.” ~Cicero
“You may have heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. There’s another day you might want to know about: Giving Tuesday. The idea is that on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, shoppers take a break from gift-buying and donate what they can to charity.” ~Bill Gates
All of the above are insightful, reminding us of what this holiday is all about. I’d like to encourage those who read this to do something – like Bill Gates suggests – contribute from a heart of thanksgiving to another.
You may want to consider a homeless shelter, a good cause worth supporting, or a group who finds itself working on this day, e.g. peace officers and first responders. Several members of SA’s staff are doing those acts of thankfulness. They’re sure to result in smiles given and received. You decide, then share from a heart of thanksgiving. It’s bound to make you feel great!
Have a very special Thanksgiving Day, its worth carrying forward and sharing.
