The Update “Good artists copy; great artists steal.” That could sound like Instagram’s motto, as they recently came out with an update that displays a feature nearly identical to Snapchat. Instagram Stories is the new feature that sits at the top of the users newsfeed that allows them to click and see a streamline of photos/videos their friends post, which then disappear after 24 hours.
In the fields of PR and marketing, planning or helping coordinate an event is common practice, but it can be a lot to undertake. Whether it’s an internal meeting with ten people, or a statewide event with hundreds, there are many aspects that are a part of successful event planning. The PR team at SA has some tips to get you through the three main stages of event execution: planning, promotion and day-of coordination.
Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the 2015 PRSA International Conference in Atlanta. The three-day event was a great experience to network with more than 2,000 other communications professionals from across the world while hearing from some outstanding industry leaders. The theme of the conference was PoweRful Connections, and the conference provided just that.
From the thousands of people who proudly wore “Greatness STEMs from Iowans” backpacks to hundreds of the families who participated in hands-on activities, the second annual STEM Day at the Iowa State Fair proved to be even better than the notorious butter cow. Thanks to our great partnerships with the Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council, we worked side-by-side with their team to coordinate a special day that helped increase interest and awareness of science, technology, engineering and mathematics among Iowans by promoting it across the fairgrounds.
Earlier this month, the PRSSA chapter at Drake held their 2015 PRSSA Regional Conference, Expect the Unexpected in downtown Des Moines. The theme was picked to help combat the stereotype about Iowa being full of cornfields and farmers by showcasing the numerous opportunities and corporations that exist in Iowa. The theme also tapped into the importance of thinking on your toes in the field of PR and how to prepare yourself, and your clients, for any situation they could be faced with.
Remember the process your digital team first used as SEO took off in the web world? They researched and found which keywords you should be using on the pages of your site, and made sure the website’s meta tags included the keywords that would help your site rank higher on the SERP (search engine results page).
Some people don’t know what PR people do. It’s not their fault. The idea of public relations is to get someone’s name, product, idea, etc. some love and attention. So you might not know my name or what I like to do on the weekends, but you better believe I’ve been working hard. Sometimes you might see our clients in the paper, hear some story on the news, attend a great event, find out about a sweet social media campaign, yadda yadda yadda.
