Michael Schreurs named finalist for National Small Business Advocate of the Year
WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (May 21, 2018) — Strategic America’s Chairman and Chief Strategist Michael Schreurs has been named as a finalist for the 2018 Lewis Shattuck Small Business Advocate of the Year Award. Schreurs is one of five small business advocates recognized as finalists for the honor.
The award is presented by the National Small Business Association to a small business owner who demonstrates a dedication to the small business community through volunteer work and advocacy. Finalists were selected for their efforts that reached beyond their individual industries and improved the environment for all small businesses.
“Mike built our agency on the mission of helping small businesses succeed in their local markets,” said John Schreurs, CEO of Strategic America. “He believes small businesses drive innovation and our global economy. It’s that commitment that drives him today and inspires our associates to give their best efforts to our clients.”
Schreurs has a long history of advocating for small businesses on local, state and national levels. When Schreurs founded Strategic America in 1980, he chose to serve clients who go to market through independent dealers, agents, distributors and franchisees—many of whom are small businesses. Today he continues his advocacy with local, state and federal officials regarding economic development policies that affect small businesses. His efforts include meetings with Senator Charles Grassley and Congressman David Young regarding tax reform.
Schreurs works to involve others in important conversations for small businesses. Before the 2016 Iowa Caucus, he arranged forums for candidates from both parties to answer questions in his Des Moines office. In 2015, he offered Strategic America’s services to the U.S. Small Business Administration for an awareness campaign that demonstrated the contributions of small businesses to 25 key markets.
The winner of the 2018 Lewis Shattuck Small Business Advocate of the Year Award will be announced Monday, June 11 in Washington D.C.
