Strategic America wins ADDY award for stroke awareness campaign

West Des Moines, Iowa (March 1, 2024) – Strategic America (SA), an integrated marketing agency with headquarters in West Des Moines, Iowa, won a silver ADDY award Feb. 24 for work created for the American Heart Association’s stroke awareness campaign.

The American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline Stroke program engaged Strategic America to develop a campaign to improve public awareness across Iowa — and especially in underserved rural areas — of life-saving actions to take in the event of a stroke.

Cardiovascular disease and stroke are the first and fifth most common causes of death in the United States. Both are particularly deadly because the acute nature of heart attacks and strokes requires time-sensitive treatment to save lives and reduce lasting disability. In rural areas, long distances to health care make timely treatment an even greater challenge.

“It’s a privilege for our team to partner with the American Heart Association and play a role in this truly life-saving work,” said Lisa Holtorf, VP, and leader of Creative Services.  “It’s rewarding to be recognized for the quality of our creative campaign, and even more rewarding to make a difference in the lives of Iowans. I’m proud of each team member who contributed to this work.”

Strategic America served as the agency of record for the Feb. 24 event and was represented by Dave Miglin, chief growth officer; Kasey Baker-Vermulm, art director; and Kelsey Feller, product owner.

The ADDY Awards, presented by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), is the industry’s largest and most representative creative competition. Award winners demonstrate creative excellence in the art of advertising, including all forms of advertising in any media, and can be from all sizes and types of agencies in the United States. Three national judges were brought in to judge this year’s competition based on creative merit.
