WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (Jan. 23, 2024) – The former president of iHeartMedia Des Moines, Joel McCrea, has joined the leadership team of West Des Moines-based marketing firm Strategic America (SA).

McCrea now serves as SA vice president, Client Strategy & Service (CSS) — filling the role previously held by Bryce Thomson, who will retire from SA Jan. 31.

Before joining SA, McCrea oversaw all operations at iHeartMedia Des Moines — including sales and programming, engineering, news, and general administrative staff. He also held leadership roles at the national and state level — serving on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Broadcasters, Iowa Broadcasters Association and Iowa Public Information Board.

“I have been a SA media partner for 40 years,” said McCrea.  “I’m thrilled and honored to be part of this talented team.”

“Joel’s experience building and maintaining strong client relationships and promoting a results-driven, collaborative culture make him an excellent fit for SA,” said SA CEO & President John Schreurs. “In his new role, he’ll play a pivotal role in maximizing client satisfaction and fostering collaboration with internal teams to achieve business objectives. Joel will help SA continue to find a better way for clients to thrive in 2024 and beyond.”
