Strategic America wins four ADDYs

West Des Moines, Iowa – Strategic America (SA), an integrated marketing agency with headquarters in West Des Moines, Iowa, won four ADDY Awards presented by the American Advertising Federation (AAF) of Des Moines Feb. 18.

According to the AAF Des Moines website, the ADDY Awards is the industry’s largest and most representative creative competition. Award winners demonstrate creative excellence in the art of advertising, including all forms of advertising in any media, and can be from all sizes and types of agencies in the United States. More than 40,000 entries from across the nation are entered and judged in the national competition after winning at both state and regional levels each year.

Strategic America earned the Judge’s Choice award for its work with Anderson Erickson (AE) Dairy and the “The Great Milk Riot of 1993” video.

The Milk Riot video illustrated a true story from SA Art Director Kasey Baker-VerMulm’s childhood. Baker-VerMulm was one of the elementary school students who demanded her school district go back to serving AE milk after it served a competitor’s brand. The prestige of being the judge’s top choice resonated within the agency and with Baker-VerMulm.

“Our amazing team crafted an entertaining and engaging story from the hazy elementary school memories of a bunch of forty-somethings. It’s an amazing video with a bit of true Iowa history, and the judges agreed,” she said.

Strategic America also won a gold ADDY for the agency’s integrated marketing print campaign, “Dorothy’s House Hobbies.” Dorothy’s House is a nonprofit that provides a safe place for survivors of human trafficking, exploitation and prostitution by helping clients through their healing journeys. The gold ADDY recognizes the highest level of creative excellence and is sent on to the district level competition.

SA took home two silver ADDYs that are also going on to the district level—one for the team’s online campaign for AE Dairy, and another for a Dorothy’s House print campaign. The campaigns sent to the district level will be judged and the results will be announced at the end of March. Winners at the district level will be sent to the national AAF competition, with awardees announced in June.
