Her “New Rude” Blog Post on Texting in Meetings, Strikes a Chord

(DES MOINES, Iowa – July 9, 2012) – Lore McManus Solo, APR, Principal and Vice President of Public Relations at Strategic America, received a national APEX Award of Excellence.

Solo’s award-winning blog post “The New Rude” openly addresses how professional courtesy has been stretched thin, due to individuals’ obsession with smart phones versus being attentive in business meetings.

The blog post was originally featured on Strategic America’s blog. It was then picked up by the Des Moines Business Record and a national marketing publication, Bulldog Reporter as well as The Grossman Group’s blog, a Chicago-based employee communication agency. The blog has received extensive comments from other professionals throughout the world.

The APEX Awards for Publication Excellence are given annually for best practices in print, web and publications to professional communicators who produce outstanding work. Awards are given in 11 major categories and are judged on editorial content, ability to communicate, and where appropriate, graphic design. Almost 3,400 entries were submitted this year in the 24th annual award program.
