Emily Price
CEO, Healthy Birth Day, Inc. (the nonprofit organization that created the Count the Kicks public health campaign)
Emily Price oversees the national expansion of the evidence-based Count the Kicks public health campaign that educates and empowers expectant parents to track their babies’ movements in the third trimester of pregnancy. The proven stillbirth prevention campaign helped lower Iowa’s stillbirth rate by nearly 32 percent in its first decade.
This major reduction happened while the rest of the U.S. remained relatively stagnant. Additionally, the stillbirth rate among African-American women in Iowa decreased by a promising 39% in the first five years of the program. Price leads the vision of Healthy Birth Day Inc.’s stillbirth prevention work — with an overall goal of realizing a 32% stillbirth rate reduction in all 50 states, which would save 7,000 babies every year.
Under her leadership, Count the Kicks’ research was published in an international medical journal in 2023 and was recognized as a Best Practice by the Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs (AMCHP) in 2021. The campaign has generated national attention on dozens of media outlets— including Good Morning America, Sunday Night Football on NBC, The Washington Post and USA Today — reaching more than 350 million people globally. The Count the Kicks team has collected more than 110 baby save stories in 33 states and five countries; and expanded into 25 states with a minimum of five additional states launching in 2023.
