DES MOINES, Iowa (Oct. 29, 2012) — Strategic America (SA) has won the people’s choice award for Bras for the Cause’s annual decorated bras competition. Donated bra artwork is on display at the Gallery of Bras and will be auctioned as part of the fundraising to pay for mammograms, cervical screenings and/or related medical programs or projects.

More than 75 artists submitted decorated bras to benefit Bras for the Cause. Kasey Baker-VerMulm designed SA’s entry, BRAman’s Chinese Theater, complete with celebrity handprints and upcoming “bra” performances.

“Bras for the Cause is a unique way for artists to use their creative talents to benefit Iowans through this great cause,” says Baker-VerMulm. “This is our fourth year participating at SA and each time we enjoy coming up with quirky ideas to make our bra a show stopper.”

In addition to this year’s decorated bra, SA’s contributions included a bake sale, drink pink and a chili cook-off with all proceeds donated to Bras for the Cause.

The decorated bras are on display at Valley West Mall in West Des Moines. They will be moved to Prairie Meadows in Altoona for the Bras for the Cause Gala on Saturday, November 3, 2012. The fundraising event includes entertainment, elegant dining and an opportunity to bid on both live and silent “Bra” auction packages.

Bras for the Cause is a nonprofit organization that raises funds to eradicate breast and cervical cancer through early intervention mammograms and cervical screenings. The organization is completely volunteer-based with events throughout the state.
