SA Proudly Supports Every Woman Counts Luncheon

  Proceeds benefit proven baby-saving Count the Kicks public awareness campaign (WEST DES MOINES, April 9, 2015) -- Only select tickets remain to the 2015 Every Woman Counts luncheon featuring New York Times bestselling author Glennon Doyle Melton, author of Carry On Warrior: The Power of Embracing Your Messy Beautiful Life. Melton, an award-winning blogger with hundreds of thousands of loyal followers, is the founder of Momastery.com. The event, proudly supported by Strategic America, will take place on Wednesday, April 29 at 11:30 am inside the Iowa Events Center in downtown Des Moines and will benefit the public awareness campaign Count The Kicks. Count the Kicks teaches expectant parents the importance of monitoring their unborn babies' movements during the third trimester of pregnancy with the goal of improving the chances of delivering a healthy baby and can prevent unexpected birth complications and even late-term stillbirth. Scientific studies indicate kick counting, a daily record of a baby's movements (kicks, rolls, punches, jabs) during the third trimester, is an easy, free and reliable way to monitor a baby's well-being in addition to regular prenatal visits. The April 29th luncheon will raise funds to help spread this proven baby-saving message to more hospitals, doctors offices and clinics around the country. In 2009, five Iowa moms who all lost baby daughters within months of each other, launched Count The Kicks, the public awareness campaign that's recently gone global thanks to a new kick counting app found in the iTunes and Google Play online stores. Through their non-profit organization Healthy Birth Day, the women have created a network of supportive hospitals, doctors and advocates who are spreading the Count the Kicks message. Prior to the development of Count the Kicks, the five founding women helped get Iowa's Stillbirth Registry law enacted and they now have Count the Kicks ambassadors in seven states. The founding moms and Strategic America invite you to come for a warm afternoon of laughter, friendship and empowerment. Tables of 10 were filled hours after the initial announcement, but approximately 90 seats remain and can be purchased at www.countthekicks.org.
