Few people outside of the marketing world recognize the amount of work that goes into developing what looks like a simple logo. For designers, inclusion in Logo Lounge’s annual publications is an honor and reward for all those hours put in. Of 33,000 annual submissions, only the 2,000 best logos from around the world are chosen by an international panel of judges for publication. And now, a logo designed by Strategic America is among the elite.
Ethanol is made from one of Iowa’s most recognizable resources– an ear of corn. In place of the “I” in “join,” an ear of corn symbolizes a popular renewable fuel.
Made primarily from soybeans, biodiesel is a clean-burning fuel. A soybean pod calls attention to the “.com” and encourages people to visit the Join the Ride Web site.
Below the text of the logo sits a subtle nod to Iowa’s wind farms—three propellers of the familiar wind turbines that dot the landscape.
Join the Ride, an integrated marketing campaign to raise awareness of Iowa’s leadership in renewable energy production, took a unique approach to tell the story.
The Iowa Farm Bureau worked with SA as the Teutuls, from TLC’s
American Chopper, built the world’s first custom E85 motorcycle and came to Iowa to promote renewable fuels. This campaign brought news of Iowa’s renewable energy prowess to 11.6 million people nationwide. Natural elements were infused with attitude to bring the chopper mentality to the campaign.
